Yesterday was such a yummy eating day! We decided that since it was officially June, we'd break out the grill and my mom would make Chicken Surprise, which is basically just an apricot marinade for chicken breasts, and potato salad. We also had Pinkberry for lunch, which was delicious and really hit the spot on such a hot day. Plus we had several glasses of champagne, and I finished up the night with a bunch of Cadbury Dark Mini Eggs from my Easter basket. I LOVE Cadbury Mini Eggs, and the dark ones are amazing. All in all I used up 44 PointsPlus! Yikes, but totally worth it.
A big summer storm hit DC last night, and was still going this morning when I headed out for my run. I love running in the rain - it helps me stay cool, and makes me feel like I'm in some sort of super hardcore sports movie montage. Unfortunately, the rain stopped halfway through my run, and then it was just hot and humid. My goal for today was to run 2.5 miles - 1.25 out, and then turn around and run back. At 1.83 miles, I convinced myself that I needed to walk for a tenth of a mile. Immediately after I walked, I regretted it - I know I didn't really need to, since I've been doing over 2 miles for several days now. So I decided to make up that missing tenth of a mile at the end of the run. I accidentally actually added an extra .17 onto the run, for a total of 2.67 miles. Obviously I still had gas in the tank at the end of the run and did not need to walk in the middle, so I'm annoyed at myself. I just need to get over that mental hurdle that hits me in the middle of my runs.
Mile 1: 11:53
Mile 2: 12:47
Mile 2.7: 12:13
Today I'm going to the sinus doctor, which I'm really excited about. I am plagued by terrible sinus headaches that are almost debilitating, and I have a terrible sense of smell. I really want to get this corrected before I start medical school, because it's one thing to have to go sit at a desk and stare at a computer screen when you have a sinus headache, but it's quite another to have to actively study, which I imagine is going to be taking up the vast majority of my time come August. My parents are worried about messing around with my sinuses, but I am getting to the point where I just can't take the headaches anymore. Hopefully she'll have some ideas.
